Lite-up Texas is a government assistance program intended to provide assistance with the cost of electric service for low income families. The program provides financial assistance on electricity during the months of May, June, July, and August in 2015. The subsidy is now 15%. Most Texas utilities can provide the benefit.
You are qualified for Lite-Up Texas if you currently participate in one of the following government assistance programs:
Medicaid
Food Stamps
If you are not in one of these programs, you can still qualify if your household income is at or below 125% of the
federal poverty guidelines.
If you are not receiving Medicaid or Food Stamps benefits but think you qualify based on your income, you can self
enroll by calling 1-866-454-8387 to request an application. Or, you can

To receive the Lite-Up Texas benefit, you must live in a deregulated area of Texas where you can choose your own
Retail Electric Provider (REP).
For 2015, the Lite-up Texas program discounts your power bill by 15%.
